Apple is on the verge of unveiling the iPhone 15 and the next-generation of its watch series in just a matter of weeks. This upcoming product lineup represents another significant milestone in the company’s ongoing pursuit of innovation and excellence. That being said, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming beast.
Even though we don’t have any official dates for you yet, as the official announcement for iPhone 15, Apple Watch Ultra 2nd Gen, Apple Watch Series 9, as well as some possible updates to iPad is on September 12 (“ Wonderlust”) , the release date is most likely September 22, 2023 .
Apple traditionally reveals its latest iPhones during a dedicated hardware-focused keynote, often held in early September, typically on the second Tuesday of that month. Following this event, the newly introduced devices usually become available for purchase about ten days later, typically on a Friday (September 22)

The company’s website says that the event will take place on September 12 at Apple Park and will begin at 10 a.m. PT. It will be live-streamed on apple as well as the Apple TV app .
It is worth noting that rumors concerning some alleged supply chain slowdowns have surfaced that might contribute to postponing the release to October, but it is highly unlikely.
In terms of design, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will distinguish itself significantly from its predecessors among the iPhone Pro Max lineup. According to speculations, the upcoming model may have slightly smaller dimensions, being shorter and narrower, but slightly thicker compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, these alterations are so subtle that they might not even be visible to the naked eye.

In the realm of design speculations for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, there’s buzz about significant enhancements to its front-facing aesthetics, particularly in the form of ultra-slim bezels.
According to Ice Universe, there’s talk of the iPhone 15 Pro Max potentially featuring the slimmest bezels ever seen on a smartphone, measuring 1.55mm (0.06 inches). This would surpass the existing record held by the Xiaomi 13, with its 1.81mm (0.07 inches) display bezels, establishing a new standard in the industry.
Rumors have it that the most premium upcoming iPhone could score a side frame that curves slightly to the back of the phone, somewhat emulating the side profile of a MacBook Pro. This will be a major change from the existing iPhone 12/iPhone 13/iPhone 14 industrial design language that mostly relies on an edgy industrial design.
However, looks are not everything as using any of these without a back cover or case would not be comfortable as the edges would cave into your arm. How that caveat is handled remains a state of mystery at this point.
But we are not done yet. Not even close. Multiple rumors have it that the body could employ titanium instead of stainless steel in their exterior build, at least in their premium versions. And it’s premium for a reason.
To begin, it’s worth noting that titanium, while being lighter than stainless steel, boasts comparable strength. Furthermore, its polished finish lends it an equally premium look and feel. As an added bonus, it doesn’t attract fingerprints either.
But there’s more.
For quite some time, there have been widespread speculations that Apple was considering the possibility of eliminating hardware buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max. This would have mirrored Apple’s earlier move with the iPhone 7, where it replaced the physical home button with a capacitive one, offering haptic feedback through the Taptic Engine vibrator. Similar rumors suggested that Apple intended to take this approach with the power and volume buttons on its upcoming models.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is strongly expected to make the switch from a Lightning connector to a USB Type-C port. This transition has received substantial confirmation from highly reliable sources including Mark Gurman, Ming-Chi Kuo, and even statements from Apple executives.
The catalyst for this change was EU legislation that mandates the adoption of a common charging port standard (USB-C) by the end of 2024. While Apple could have potentially continued with Lightning for the iPhone 15 series, they opted for the newly enforced USB-C port instead.

However, there are some potential drawbacks to this shift. Apple is rumored to be considering the inclusion of an authenticator chip in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This chip could either reject non-Apple USB-C cables or charge the phone at a slower rate when using them.
Additionally, in terms of hardware differentiation, it’s likely that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will support USB 3.2 speeds, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might be limited to USB 2.0.
iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to arrive in 4 colors: Space Black, Silver, Titan Gray, and a new deep blue color.
With the exception of the slimmer bezels, it appears that the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s display won’t undergo substantial changes in terms of regular specifications. It’s anticipated to maintain its 6.7-inch XDR ProMotion OLED HDR screen, complete with a variable refresh rate capable of reaching up to 120Hz. The display resolution is expected to remain at 2796×1290 pixels, and screen sharpness is likely to stay around 460 pixels per inch (PPI).
The brightness is something though that needs to be discussed as it’s being rumored to reach a crazy peak of 2500 nits packed with an OLED display- a drastic improvement over iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that capped out at 2000.
It is rumored that only the iPhone 15 Pro Max would come with a periscope camera capable of offering upto 6X zoom- twice of the former performers. It might even have a fully functioning telephoto camera with lossless zoom, though it remains a subject of ambiguity.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max will employ the 48MP main camera that debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but most certainly with various improvements on deck. The new 12MP ultra-wide camera that debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is most certainly making a comeback as well.
No changes are expected in the storage department. The storage is expected to come in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants, just as before.
Arguably the most important spec of any phone as you cannot enjoy anything without it. Some chilling rumors have it that the device could feature as much as 4852 mAh worth of juice- a 12% increase over the previous 4323 mAh of iPhone 14 Pro Max.
With a 35W fast charging, capable of charging way faster than iPhone 14 Pro Max 27W, we are expecting a significant reduction in charging times. Paired with the A17 bionic chipset, this could take the battery to as much as 2-3 days without charging depending upon the usage.
iOS 17 would be powering the upcoming flagship. As such, one can expect couple of updates and exciting new features:
Rather than the boring old contact cards, you can now customize your own cards. How cool is that ?! Not to mention that you can also use Live Stickers in the messaging itself
Nothing groundbreaking, but worth mentioning. Rather than saying “Hey,Siri”, you can now just say “Siri”, and it would suffice. Sort of like when 3 finger swipe was introduced for taking screenshots in terms of usability.
NameDrop allows you to share contacts between devices in a more streamlined manner. You can also leave a FaceTime voicemail (FaceMail?) rather than just going through the boring voicemail, in case someone missed your facetime call.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be driven by the highly awaited 3nm Apple A17 Bionic chip, manufactured by TSMC. This is expected to deliver substantial gains in both performance and energy efficiency. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are likely to retain the older 5nm A16 Bionic chip currently used in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.
The A17 bionic is expected to continue with its -core arch (4 efficiency, 2 performance) that consists of 20-24 billion transistors as opposed to 16 billion on the A16 bionic.
As far as the iPhone 15 Pro Max is concerned, it could come with the Snapdragon X70 modem, which should further improve cellular data throughput.
In early June 2023, there’s speculation from Wedbush analyst Dan Ives that Apple could potentially raise prices for the iPhone 15 series, including the iPhone 15 Pro Max, by as much as $200.
This move is attributed to the prospect of over 250 million iPhone users being in line for an upgrade, which could translate into substantial profits for Apple. This overarching rumor gained further credence when it was supported by Apple analyst Jeff Pu, who also anticipates a notable price hike for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
That being said, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to range anywhere from $1099+ (128GB Storage) to $1599+ (1TB Storage), on par with some of the high-end gaming setups.

*: Expected or anticipated data
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is a beast of a phone loaded with features. It’s really hard to say no to something that is so widely anticipated. However, it is not a quantum leap either from the iPhone 14 Pro Max if you think about it for a minute.Whilst so many features are what hypes it up, there are not many apps on the market customized to provide such tailored experience.
As with everything, it comes with its own Pros and Cons, and the choice ultimately falls in your hands !
